Ariadni · Counsel oversight for legal services clients
Ariadni is counsel-oversight software for people who hire outside lawyers. With your permission it connects to your Gmail or Outlook mailbox, reads the emails and documents your outside counsel sends you, and emails you a plain-English assessment of that work, scored across four signals. It also drafts questions for your lawyer into your own drafts folder, and never sends anything to anyone but you.
The problem
Hours you cannot verify. A partner on the invoice and an associate or less-qualified subcontractor on the document. Work whose quality you can only guess at until something goes wrong. Ariadni turns a live legal services engagement into something the person paying the bill can actually read.

What Ariadni measures
How quickly your counsel replies, whether the dates they give in writing are met, which threads have gone quiet, and how long work takes to come back, learned per counsel as a return benchmark, all measured on a business-hours clock from your own inbox. With the optional Ariadni Companion on your Mac, texts and returned calls too. Timing, direction, and duration only, never content.
Live today in BetaWhether the lawyer you are paying for is the one doing the work, read from the metadata inside the documents themselves. Ariadni checks who authored a draft, who last edited it, and whose tracked changes are in it, then sets that against the lawyer named on your engagement letter and on your bill.
Live today in BetaA structural and substantive read of the actual documents, with a best-effort de-identification pass before analysis. Ariadni looks for provisions that are missing, one-sided, or inconsistent with the rest of the draft, restates each one in plain English, and gives you the questions worth putting to your lawyer.
Live today in BetaWhat a task or matter of this type and complexity should reasonably cost, as a yardstick against what you were billed. Ariadni holds a reasonable rate and hours band for the matter type, then flags the drafts whose depth does not match the rate you are paying for them.
Live today in BetaYou decide how much each of these four signals counts toward the overall score, for everything or per matter. Ariadni can also review a bill or invoice you upload, a document type it reads, not a fifth signal.

Responsiveness, staffing, and fee signals work on any matter. Her work-product quality score is calibrated by practice area, and expanding.

How it works
You connect your Google account once. Ariadni then watches the matter as new emails and documents arrive and keeps your view current, so oversight is continuous rather than a single check.
With your permission, Ariadni looks for emails from your outside lawyer or law firm. She emails you a read on each document highlighting potential issues and errors, and stages a reply to your lawyer in your drafts folder, in plain English, with suggested questions and clarifications to ask, which you can review, edit, and send if you choose to. She never sends anything to anyone but you.
Ariadni uses an automated, self-improving tool that attempts to de-identify every document and email message, removing the names, firms, contact details, and dates it detects, before anything is sent to the AI platform for analysis. Figures such as rates and totals are left intact, because a number identifies no one and removing it would make the fee and invoice reads meaningless. The tool is imperfect and does not guarantee that every identifier is removed.
A sample read
When your counsel sends a document, Ariadni emails you a read across four signals, the issues she spotted, and questions you can ask, with each provision restated in plain English in an attached PDF. Advice sent in the body of an email, with no document attached, gets the same read. Here is an illustrative example.
Illustrative example with fictional parties. Figures are for demonstration only.
Ariadni gave Theseus a thread to find his way out of the labyrinth. Ariadni gives you the same thread: a way to see through any legal services engagement, and to find the way out if the work does not measure up.
Her thread had a name: a clew. It is where we get the word “clue.” Every clue anyone has ever followed traces back to her ball of string.

Enrolled users can forward a message from their outside counsel, or ask about a bill, a redline, or a clause, and Ariadni emails back a short, objective read: what the message is, what stands out, and the questions you could put to your lawyer. Your message is de-identified, then analyzed by a third-party AI provider; Ariadni emails the read back to you and does not keep your message or attachments. Ariadni is a technology company, not a law firm, and this is information, not legal advice.
Before you connect anything, try the step that runs before any document is analyzed. Paste text or drop in a PDF or Word file, and Ariadni strips the identifying details right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing leaves your device, so you can see exactly what it catches. It is best-effort, not a guarantee, but it only moves forward: every change has to clear a growing de-identification test before it ships, so the engine keeps getting better and never slips backward.
Pull the thread yourself.
